We start off the show with Gisto and Ganja, a great local musician who pushes the boundaries. We talk about Dred Scott who was a slave from Virginia who petitioned the Supreme court of the united States to gain his freedom. The court ruled that negroes were an inferior race! We then play a Clash tune called Police on my back. We cover the fact that women were barred from practicing law because they were of too timid a nature. We cover these two cases as examples of how courts can rule on issues that are so fundamental that looking back we can only wonder how they came to those conclusions. Put that into context with the Holy Smoke ruling. We interview Paul Defelice regarding his reactions to his conviction in Nelson Provincial court for trafficking and the Necessity defense they put forward. A test case in every sense of the word. We then play another cut from Gisto, a feel love track. We then interview Alan Middlemiss another Holy Smoke activist convicted in the Friday ruling and get his feelings regarding the disturbing ruling. Top this off with a track from Public eenemy called Fight the Power. A flashback with Sesame Street aliens and their encounter with a radio, they even say happy happy joy joy at the end. Couldn’t help but have a Ren and Stimpy thought. The sentencing for the Holy Smoke 4 takes place on October 14, 2008 which is Election Day, a full moon and Sukkot, a jewish holiday which we look into. The History Hour - The Greeks’ Revolutions: how war stimulated democratic order among ancient Greeks
Jeanes looks at how ancient Greece, a clear example of class society with warrior aristocrats and equestrian military nobility ruling farmers, moved toward democracy. Sparta was a peculiar type of soldier democracy with a constitution unlike any other. War made Sparta supreme but its citizens had to be rigidly engineered by law ('social engineering") to be the best warriors. Persia's Empire impinged, and so Greeks' wars to liberate themselves from the Persians shaped Greek governmental order. Sparta was revolutionized from the top down by the lawgiver named Lycurgus, and Athens by Dracon. Hoplite infantry became better soldiers than noble cavalry and so the aristocracies lost their power to over-awe the common farming class.

We go through the media blitz on the WestVan/Sunshine coast candidates Dana Larsen and Kirk Tousaw. They have both had to step down due to PotTV videos that show them imbibing in Cannabis Sacrament. It is funny that every politician in office admits to smoking but these two are forced to step down because of it. It shows just how scared everyone is of a Conservative majority in the house of Parliament. We also comment on the way the Conservatives have pulled the political spectrum farther to the right through their manipulations in parliament. We listen to barrack Obama and his position on Drug Policy. Then Ray Charles Lets go get stoned, man I love this tune. Barack again on the David Letterman show regarding his cannabis use. Elizabeth May of the Green Party dodges the cannabis question. A special interview from the Argenta Fall Faire from crazed vixen Vita Marguin with the Honey man Terry huxter and his queen bee Elizabeth. I talk some more about the Lamb Roast and play the Do-Bee song from Romper Room, too funny. We update the Robin Long case, a war resister stolen from Nelson and deported to the United States where he was convicted of desertion and is now doing time down there. A great track from local hiphop legends Cyphanex from the Album 21 Bumpstreet zombie edition. SPP and Lou Dobbs addressing the amping up of fear. We also hear why David Rockefeller is so interested in the North American union. A song called Guantanamo bay by Cannabis activist Rick Reimer. The History Hour - The Revolution of Israelite Religion in the sixth century BCE
